Glendale H-D, Bert's Mega Mall Host Charity Ride for Haiti

Two San Gabriel Valley dealers helped host a charity ride Saturday that brought out dozens of riders and a handful of celebrities to raise money for Haitian earthquake relief.

The Ride 4 Haiti started at Glendale Harley-Davidson and ended at Bert’s Mega Mall in Covina. Rain forced bands scheduled to perform at Glendale H-D to move to Bert’s Mega Mall, but the event went on.

Jimmy Jean-Louis, known cryptically as “The Haitian” to fans of the TV show “Heroes,” founded the nonprofit Hollywood Unites for Haiti in 2008 to help children from his homeland. The earthquake added urgency to the group’s efforts, and Saturday’s rainy ride benefited the group.

“Haiti just went through an earthquake, so a few drops of rain is not going to stop me from doing anything,” he told the Glendale News-Press. “Don’t forget, right now we have people sleeping under the rain, so I can definitely ride for an hour in the rain.”
