To help business during these rough economic times, Great Bay beefed up staffing in its service department. Labor revenue has nearly doubled over last year, and parts sales through service have increased by 30 percent. The 2,000 sq. ft. service shop features four lifts, air hose drops for each station, a dedicated battery station, a dedicated fork and front-end area, a parts washer, a tire machine and balancer, and a bead blast cabinet. The department operates on the bin system — each assigned job gets its own bin into which all needed parts are placed.
A loaner bike program for service customers who bought their rides from Great Bay is a great "value added" sales tool. Customers short on time or traveling from afar can reserve service work on Saturdays and wait while it's completed. Pick-up and delivery is also available — a bonus for new riders who may want to hone their skills near home before hitting the open road.
