The owners of Harley-Davidson of Erie, in Pennsylvania are hoping to have their new dealership open in time for Erie's annual Roar on the Shore motorcycle rally July 19 to 22.
"It's going great. It's right on schedule,'' Susan Lapping, who owns the dealership along with her husband, Kelly Lapping, told the Erie Times-News. They are shooting for a July 5 grand opening at the new site, a former supermarket that has undergone a $2 million renovation.
"We're excited to get in there. We're excited to be able to reuse a current facility. The community seems happy about it,'' she said. In addition to a showroom, the new facility will include a classroom and an outdoor training course for the Pennsylvania Motorcycle Safety Program. It also will feature a meeting room for the local HOG chapter, a customer lounge and a 13,000 sq. ft. storage area The Lappings have set aside about 15,000 sq. ft. to rent out for a restaurant and retail businesses, Susan Lapping says.
