TUCSON, Ariz. – The parking lot at Harley-Davidson of Tucson will be extra crowded this weekend as the dealership hosts its annual Tucson Harley Swap Meet.
One weekend a year, the dealership lets enthusiasts and vendors set up shop in the parking lot for an event that includes a live band, food and a general party atmosphere.
"It's a great way to make room in your garage and get some extra cash - everybody can use some extra cash, right?" parts manager Danny Loewer told the Arizona Daily Star. "Also, it's a great way to find stuff for your older bike without having to search all over for it."
During the event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 26, dealership staff will cook free burgers and hot dogs and raffle off prizes while band Trade Secrets plays classic rock and oldies.
Participants are limited to selling pre-owed goods and artisan items, said regional marketing manager Michelle Hains, but sellers, who must RSVP to her (mhains@ridenow.com) to secure space, get to keep all their profits.
"January tends to be kind of a slower month, and this is a great way to kick off the new year," Hains said. "People clean out their garages and closets and get rid of stuff. We only do it once a year, and we tend to look forward to it."
