Here's the plan for Dealer Expo 2014

DESPITE BEING on the front line for product sales, you dealers and retailers receive little in the way of industry-wide support. And the fractured nature of powersports — by lifestyle, by brand, by geography — does little to foster collective ideas that could benefit you on local, regional and national scales.

When you do have an opportunity to come together, you learn better practices and share ideas that improve your business. Improve your business, and you sell more product.  And the more product sold, the more our industry grows.

Dealer Expo 2014 this December in Chicago will provide you with multiple — and in some cases, unprecedented — opportunities to achieve those objectives.

We’re kicking off the week by hosting meetings for dealer groups and associations.  In fact, the National Council of Motorcycle Dealer Associations (NCMDA) recently announced that it will hold its annual board meeting in Chicago.

“We invite all dealers to join us, at our industry’s largest dealer show, to discuss and share information that impacts dealers across America,” said Jim Boltz, chairman of NCMDA. Mr. Boltz is also a franchised dealer and director of the Washington State Motorsport Dealers Association.

NCMDA will be expanding in 2014 to provide a national platform for the various state associations that support you, the dealer. In addition to Mr. Boltz, the NCMDA is driven by:

  • Mr. Michael Marks, NCMDA vice chairman, who is the executive director of the Texas Motorcycle Dealers Association;
  • Mr. Jerry Abboud, NCMDA secretary, who is executive director of the Powersports Dealers Association of Colorado; and
  • Mr. John Paliwoda, NCMDA treasurer and executive director, who is also executive director of the California Motorcycle Dealers Association.

On Thursday, Dec. 4, we open the National Dealer Symposium, a full education program developed by Dealernews and delivered by training organizations from our new Partner Program.  All sessions will be held the day before the Expo opens, which eliminates timing conflicts with activities on the show floor and allows you to fully immerse yourself in acquiring the information and knowledge that will be presented.
