Honda Global Cycle Sales Drop 10.3%

Honda's worldwide motorcycle sales for its fiscal year ended March 31, 2008, totaled 9,083,000 units, down 10.3% from 10,121,000 units for the same 12-month period in 2007.

Honda says its global cycle business was marked by a declining market and slowdown in the U.S. economy, declining personal consumption in Europe, signs of weakness in Japan's economy and continued growth in Asia and South America.

In Asia, cycle sales totaled 7,895,000 units, up from 6,633,000 units; in Japan sales totaled 311,000, down 7.7% from 337,000; in Europe sales totaled 301,000, down 5% from 317,000; in North America, sales totaled 242,000, down 14.2% from 282,000; and in Honda?s Other Regions sales totaled 1,596,000 up 23.7% from 1,290,000.
