Honda Q2 Cycle, ATV sales slip 17%

Japan's Honda Motor Co. says worldwide motorcycle and ATV sales fell 17.2 percent during its second quarter, ended Sept. 30. Sales for the three-month period totaled 2,333,000 (2,268,000) units, down from sales of 2,816,000 (2,737,000) units during the same three months in 2006.

Honda says it sold 4,586,000 (4,479,000) motorcycles and ATVs worldwide between April and September 2007. Sales during the same six-month period in 2006 totaled 5,196,000 (5,075,000) units.

Honda says motorcycle and ATV sales in North America during the first six months of its fiscal year totaled 201,000 (105,000), down from 232,000 (123,000) during the same period of the prior year.
