MADISON, Wis. — Business has revved up at Hot Bodies Racing. The performance bodywork and accessories company reports that its windscreen sales are up 34 percent over this time last year, undertail sales are up 6 percent, and hugger sales have increased 15 percent. And in what may be sportbike rider indignation at community noise ordinances, Hot Bodies reports that its megaphone sales are up 45 percent.
"We see no slowdown yet in sportbike accessory sales," said Roger Davis. Hot Bodies was one of a number of Parts Unlimited vendors conducting product presentations at the distributor's annual showcase this week.
The company unveiled new undertails, huggers and screens for the 2008 CBR1000RR; megaphone exhausts, painted and smoke undertails, painted huggers and GP windscreens for the ZX10R; painted undertails, a smoke lens kit, painted huggers, GP windscreens, oversized air scoops and megaphones for the Suzuki Hayabusa, a new undertail, hugger, megaphone and turn signals for the GSX-R 600/750; and painted and smoke undertails, a new megaphone and turn signals for the YZF-R6.
Davis told Parts Unlimited sales representatives on Thursday that the company "has the holeshot" on new windscreen applications because it beat much of the competition to market with new products in 2008. The optically correct, scratch-resistant sportbike windscreens are pressure-formed so they fit flush to the bike. Davis recommended that the Parts reps work with their dealer customers to make sure that Hot Bodies' point-of-purchase displays "are on every parts counter."
Hot Bodies products turning the fastest at the dealer level are (highest to lowest): LED flush-mounted turn signals, double-bubble windscreens, the 2008-model undertails, frame sliders, megaphones, huggers, and regular bodywork. The turn signals and windscreens have the highest dealer margins of the products in the list, he said.
