SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Illinois riders can show their team spirit with new motorcycle license plates that honor Chicago sports teams.
Plates feting the Cubs, White Sox, Bulls, Bears and Blackhawks plates will be offered when pre-orders begin Aug. 24 at www.cyberdriveillinois.com.
Money from the sales is earmarked to support schools. More than 18,000 sports team license plates have been sold to people driving cars, trucks and vans over less than two years, bringing in almost $800,000 for schools.
“I am proud to make these license plates available to motorcycle enthusiasts as a means of showing team spirit and further supporting education across the state,” stated Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, a former minor league baseball player in the Cubs organization.
Fans can get random-number plates for a motorcycle with a title and Illinois registration for $66. Fees vary for vanity and personalized plates. White’s expansion of the sports-plate program was signed into law by Gov. Pat Quinn Aug. 10, according to the Chicago Tribune.
