GREENSBORO, N.C. – An entrepreneur with a group of martial arts studios is launching a new career with plans to open Indian Motorcycle of Greensboro in April.

Monty Hendrix has leased a 6,240-sq.-ft. industrial space downtown for the dealership. Work reportedly started Feb, 27 on $12,200 worth of upfits, including electrical and general renovation work on the property, which was built in 1950.

Hendrix is the owner of Essential Martial Arts, which has locations in Greensboro, Oak Ridge and Whitsett.

“I started this other business when I was 22 years old and have been at it for 18 years,” Hendrix told the Triad Business Journal. “I feel like I’m just young enough that I can start and build another service-based business that’s really strong.”

The Greensboro dealership will carry on average a dozen new Indian bikes, Hendrix told the paper. Indian Motorcycles has a dealership in Charlotte, as well as three South Carolina dealerships in Greenville, Myrtle Beach and Charleston.
