Indian Motorcycle Jumps on the Clunker Bandwagon

First it was the federal government, then it was Genuine Scooter Co. Now Indian Motorcycle is looking to sweeten sales with a cash incentive program.

The OEM is offering $3,000 toward a new 2009 Indian Chief to customers bringing in bikes on trade, with some restrictions. The trade-in must be street legal, 100cc or larger and in running and rideable condition. The catch? No scooters, mopeds or dirtbikes will be taken on trade.

This is the second incentive program for the new Chief. Indian is currently running the "It Pays to Ride," in which the company will pay the first six months of payments for buyers of the Chief.
