LINCOLN, Neb. – Things are a little unusual at Indian Motorcyle Lincoln. General Manager Justin Vandevort’s office is in the drive-through cubicle of the former Quizno’s subs site.
The dealership moved hastily from the Nebraska Crossing outlet mall in Gretna because the mall is being torn down and rebuilt.
So owner Rod Yanagida, who also owns Rod's Power Sports in south Lincoln, chose the former eatery for an abbreviated renovation that keeps the dealership open now in a small portion of what will be a 5,000 sq. ft. store. The new and improved store is expected to open in June or July.
Vandevort told the Lincoln Journal-Star the store will be one of the first in the country to implement new design standards for layout, interior lighting and signage under Polaris’ ownership of Indian.
The first Indians under Polaris ownership are due out sometime after August, Yanagida told Dealernews, and will be the centerpiece of the grand opening.
The new location will make it easier for the shop to serve customers who live west of Lincoln, Vandevort said. And the store is the only Indian dealership in an area that includes Iowa, South Dakota and Kansas.
