Automotive Finance Corp. of Carmel, Ind., recently expanded its reach by launching Powersports Inventory Finance for the inventory financing of used motorcycles, scooters, PWC, ATVs, UTVs and other off-road vehicles. According to a brochure the company was handing out at Dealer Expo, the program offers 100 percent financing of dealers’ auction purchases. Dealers also can use the program to finance trades and nonauction purchases. The brochure claims “over 100 locations in North America to serve you,” along with no annual fee and no application fee.

Rivco Products Inc. was talking up its new Bagger Budz “saddlebag feet and pin retainer” kit. The clear polyurethane bumpers stick onto the bottom of hard or soft saddlebags, allowing riders to set their bags on any surface without worrying about paint or material damage. The cable set and retainer washers keep saddlebag pins and washers together, preventing them from falling to the bottom of the bag and being lost. The kit includes parts for two saddlebags. MSRP is $19.95. Dealers can order five for $100, and for an extra $10 they get a display (though note that Rivco requires no initial buy-in for new dealers).

Also new from Rivco is the Wench oil filter wrench for 1990-and-newer Harleys, which have little clearance between the crankcase or sensor and the filter. The wrench allows the user to get in that tight spot and rotate the filter without slipping. The tool’s small end has a built-in drain plug wrench. The wrench works on all stock oil filters and retails for $19.99. A retail display is available.

Shinko has expanded its Smoke Bomb tire applications to Harleys with a 150/80-16 size retailing for $209.95. The tire produces orange-colored smoke during the burnout process, even though the tire appearance is black. The tire is nylon-belted, H-speed-rated and DOT-approved. It is intended for off-road exhibition use by professional riders only, and Shinko warns riders to protect all painted surfaces from possible paint change.

Also new from Shinko are 16-inch radials that fit the Ducati Paso from way back when.

About a year ago, Leo Doyle bought B&T Manufacturing, maker of Smooth Ride shocks and moved production from Arizona to Indianapolis. At Dealer Expo the company said the only change it made to the air-tunable chromed billet aluminum shocks was to upgrade the seals. The shocks fit all American and metric V-twin swingarm models that use dual shocks. There are five available stock maximum/minimum length ranges: 11 inches to 9.5 inches, 11.5 inches to 9.5 inches, 12 inches to 10 inches, 12.5 inches to 10 inches, and 13 inches to 10-7/8 inches. Or dealers can custom-order whatever range they want for no additional cost. With any range, customers have the option of single-sprung or dual-sprung configurations. MSRP for the shocks (of any range or any configuration) is $749.

Smooth Ride also offers hardware kits for the Harley-Davidson Sportster, Dyna, Road King and V-Rod.

Features include centralized inventory, order and shipping management, Amazon automated repricing, listing tools and vendor management. Go to for details, including precisely how Solid Commerce charges for its services.

For customers who want to add some color to their four-wheeler, STI Tire & Wheel’s HD Beadlock wheels are now available in six ring colors and five cap options. The ring colors are red, blue , yellow , orange and green. HD Beadlock wheels come in 12x7 and 14x7 sizes. The beadlock ring mounts quickly and reduces debris buildup.

Also new from STI Tire & Wheel is the Roctane XD 8-ply radial tire available in 11 sizes, including 30- and 32-inch models.

3BR Powersports was displaying its new Red Band smartphone charging cables (pictured), which overcome the problem of smartphones charging at only half rate when plugged into a generic USB charger. The ability to charge at full rate reduces charging time by as much as half, according to 3BR, and allows the smartphone battery to keep up with high-demand apps such as GPS and streaming video. Red Band cables are available in lengths of 9 inches, 12 inches and 18 inches.

Also new from 3BR Powersports is a 2.1-amp version of its TAPP and Panel TAPP all-weather USB power sockets to charge tablets, GPS units, smartphones and MP3 players. These rugged power ports are made to withstand abuse. Vehicle-specific TAPP models are available for Harley-Davidson, Suzuki sportbikes and vehicles equipped with the DIN 4165 power socket such as BMW, Triumph, Ducati and Polaris.

3BR Powersports also offers a full line of USB cables available with its TAPP CAPP seals that provide weather protection when plugged into the TAPP family of USB power ports. Cables come in lengths of 9 inches, 12 inches and 18 inches.

In March UClear will introduce the latest iteration of its boomless helmet communication system for motorcyclists: the HBC100 Plus. The company will continue also to offer the original UClear HBC100 (introduced about two years ago) and the UClear HBC200 Force with superior “Multi-Hop” technology instead of Bluetooth (introduced in 2012). Unlike the HBC100 and like the HBC200 Force, the HBC100 Plus will come in both single-packs and double-packs. The new HBC100 Plus has new looks and is equipped with Bluetooth V2.1 EDR that supports 3.0.

Vertex now offers a new complete Top-End Piston Kit that comes with gaskets. The kit’s total contents are as follows: piston, piston rings, wrist pin, circlips, top-end gasket set, and a wrist pin bearing when applicable. The kit for one popular application, the 2012 Honda CRF450R, retails for $317.95. New from sister brand Hot Rods are water pump seal kits that retail for around $70.

For the 2004-to-2013 Honda CRF250R, Wossner has new Long Rod Kits with billet rods. The kits feature a 15 mm DLC-coated wrist pin, a forged side relief piston, and 20 percent weight savings, according to Wossner. More applications are in the works.
