For a powersports retailer, your ultimate resource is Dealer Expo — really, it is!
A typical day for a dealer is usually pretty hectic. You may need new lifts in the service bay, or your sales team is yammering about “team” shirts to build customer recognition, or someone’s worrying about all the small purchases that keep money rolling out the door. And maybe you’re trying to find a better way to manage your inventory. Oh, and on top of tackling these topics, you just can’t seem to get the F&I program going. Your days fly by, and you can’t seem to keep on top of all the new products that are being launched — products that your customers are learning about online and from friends.
Sound familiar?
Well, if you’re interested in streamlining a couple of areas this year, you can burn the midnight oil by reading a bunch of comprehensive articles (if they’re available) on insurance, F&I, inventory systems, management programs and so on. Or, you could carve out time from your busy schedule to attend weekly or monthly seminars on each subject (that is, if you can find some that are conveniently local).
Or, you can get it all done at Dealer Expo.
Take the time you need to talk about what you want and learn about the products each company has to offer. You’ll get more done in half a day at Dealer Expo than you would in weeks (probably longer, when you start factoring in all the interrupts) from home.
If you’re thinking about major tool and equipment upgrades — ditto. There’s a pavilion just for tools and equipment. Not only can you talk directly to the people who manufacture them, you can actually handle them and watch them demo’d. I’m not really sure you could do that anywhere but Dealer Expo — unless you visited each manufacturer individually.
If getting operations (programs, equipment, admin) to run more smoothly was on your end-of-year checklist, clearly Dealer Expo is the place to visit. Get a handle on it and you’ll have more time for choosing your inventory, training your staff and keeping abreast of the industry. Those are the things that could actually make you some money!
