Indy Update: Distributors rev up new product intros, new displays, show specials

ANCHORING THE SHOW floor of Dealer Expo, the powersports distributors are the one-stop shops for many buyers.

This year, look for high-tech in-store displays, show-only specials, new products and loads of sales reps waiting to get some face time with their dealers. Here’s a sampling of what you can expect to find inside the Indianapolis Convention Center.

TUCKER ROCKY and BIKER’S CHOICE are focusing on offering dealers hot-selling brands, incredible savings and truly innovative products, according to Hank Desjardins, vice president of marketing for the Texas-based distributor.
On the Biker’s Choice side of things, the V-twin category will feature the Twin Power line of brake pads and oil, all new for 2013. Additionally, there will be hundreds of new products in the portfolio.

Some of the brands featured in the footprint of Tucker Rocky’s space include ABUS, Arai, Bridgestone, GoPro, New Ray Toys, Nolan helmets, Repsol and Yoshimura.

Among Tucker’s house brands, River Road has new Touch Tec gloves that feature leather processed to mimic the touch of the human hand, thereby allowing riders to use any touchscreen device. RR also has a new textile collection for 2013 with full-length and waist-length waterproof, breathable jackets. The Grateful Dead line returns for 2013 with new designs and helmet styles for men and women.

Speed and Strength will unveil a new race suit, a new men’s leather jacket, a new armored hoodie and additional gear. Other highlights include two new pieces for a new category: protective vests. The Lunatic Fringe and Live by the Sword vests help fill out this growing segment. Additions are also being made to Speed and Strength’s footwear lineup with the Mercenary moto shoe, the Speedshop boots and, for women, the Wicked Garden moto shoe.

Dirt dealers may want to check out the new 2013 Skullcandy 50/50 gear from Answer Racing. This includes a new jersey and glove. Answer also has the new Elite Collection: a pant, jersey and glove that are available in black and yellow, and a vented white and yellow.

Anyone feeling the need to get plowed can check out the new 50 in. standard blade by Pile Drive under the QuadBoss line. The line has also formed a partnership with BubbaRope to provide the company’s ATV recover rope. According to the distributor, the rope has a breaking strength of 7,400 lbs. The rope includes a storage bag and strap.

And last, but certainly not least, from Firstgear is a new selection of gloves under the TPG line. Each of the four styles includes D3O armor and an anatomical fit. There is also the new TPG Tech jacket, which adds soft-shell technology to a customer’s riding apparel system. It can be worn underneath a riding jacket and used on its own around town, off the bike.
