Indy workshop to identify biggest risks for service in 2013

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - What are the five biggest risks to service in 2013? This and other topics will be discussed in an open forum at the 2013 Dealer Expo, Feb. 15-17 in Indianapolis.

Dealernews will present a special two-part Service Workshop on the Five Biggest Risks and Five Biggest Opportunities for Service in the coming year. Hosted by Dave Koshollek, this two-part, two-hour workshop will present a candid discussion of issues that will make (or break) a Service business in the coming year.

The workshop is part of the Dealernews Learning Experience, and is FREE to registered attendees of the 2013 Dealer Expo. The Workshop accompanies certification-based seminars on service issues hosted during the weekend by Dealership University.

Koshollek told Dealernews that he will foster a comfortable "open discussion" atmosphere where service managers, shop owners, techs and others can share challenges and ideas.

"What are the five biggest threats to your service department in 2013?" Part I of the Service Workshop will discuss the biggest risks to service in the coming year, including liability issues, regulatory compliance, increasingly complex technologies, keeping up with recalls, declining staff morale, finding qualified techs and more.

"What are the biggest revenue opportunities for service in 2013?" In Part II of the Workshop, service personnel will learn how to achieve greater productivity, recruit top techs affordably, work more easily with other departments, upsell customers, manage inventory and more.

Those attending the Service Workshops will emerge better informed, better networked and armed with a to-do list they can implement immediately after the show, according to Mary Slepicka, content director for Dealernews.

Veteran Dealernews columnist Koshollek is the founder and president of DAKO Management. His career includes more than 20 years as a top technical trainer for MMI, where he created the organization's Harley-Davidson technical training programs. He served as national director of MMI's H-D programs for more than a decade.
