The sponsor and organizer of Intermot have signed a contract guaranteeing the biennial show’s continued presence in Cologne, Germany, through 2016.
The German Motorcycle Industry Association (IVM), the “conceptual sponsor” of the show, and organizer Koelnmesse reached an agreement in December.
“Both parties to the agreement — IVM and Koelnmesse — joined forces in 2004 to further strengthen Intermot Cologne as a leading international motorcycle fair,” Oliver P. Kuhrt, executive vice president of Koelnmesse, and Reiner Brendicke, chief executive of IVM, said in a joint statement. “The very close, intensive and successful partnership between IVM and Koelnmesse has given Intermot a new boost and provided the sector with sustained momentum.”
In 2008, Intermot Cologne hosted nearly 200,000 buyers and motorcycle enthusiasts, who came to the event from 110 countries. A total of 1,052 suppliers from 36 countries presented their new products. Three hundred and fifty-four suppliers hailed from Germany, 698 from abroad (or 66 percent of exhibitors).
This year’s show takes place Oct. 6-10.
