The third generation of Interstate Batteries’ handheld battery analyzer, the ED-183, has enhanced data collection and reporting. Just like previous versions, the analyzer quickly prints out a report on a battery’s life expectancy and performance. But now dealers can also track performance and battery sales activity at their store. Data gathered by the ED-183 is wirelessly uploaded daily and stored for future retrieval and analysis. In addition, the new version can scan VINs and store them, allowing each vehicle’s battery requirements to be stored and retrieved more easily. In addition to indicating whether a battery is good, bad or discharged, the ED-183 can identify a battery that’s about to fail. It also can predict the cold temperature at which the battery may fail to start the vehicle.
