Iowa DOT Urges Riders to 'Ride Bright'


The Iowa Department of Transportation wants motorcyclists to fly their colors, literally.

The DOT is asking motorcyclists to wear bright colors to increase thie visibility to other motorists.

Department safety engineer Tom Welch told WCCO that frequently in motorcycle collisions, drivers say they never saw the motorcycle.

The DOT also suggests motorcyclists keep their headlights on at all times.

Iowa had 49 motorcycle fatalities in 2009.
