HASLETT, Mich. -- Worldwide snowmobile sales increased by 9 percent in 2013, and manufacturers are optimistic for a robust 2014, according to data from the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association.
Snowmobile sales increased worldwide to 157,106, due in part to better weathe rconditions for riding over the winter. Snowmobile sales in the United States and Canada increased 11 percent, and sales of manufacturer-branded parts, garments and accessories increased more than 20 percent from last year.
The 2015 manufacturers' spring snowmobile shows reported increases in attendance -- up more than 20 percent. Spring orders also increased. Manufacturers Arctic Cat and Polaris each reported 7 percent increases in annual snowmobile sales, ISMA reported.
Registered snowmobiles in North America increased to 2 million last year, the majority of which belong to a club or association. Studies also show snowmobiling now generates more than $30 billion of economic activity in North America, the association noted.
