Japan's Production Drops 19% In February

Japan's four main motorcycle manufacturers produced 127,045 units in February, a 19.5% drop from the production of 157,873 units in February 2007.

February's production marks a six-month production decrease.

Honda produced 33,708 units in February 2008, down from 44,704 units in February 2007; Kawasaki produced 18,894 units, down from 22,701 units; Suzuki produced 44,202 units, down from 47,110 units; and Yamaha produced 30,226 units, down from 43,335 units.

The Big Four exported 122,085 units in February 2008, a 11.2% drop from the export of 137,499 units in February 2007.

Honda exported 20,152 units in February 2008, down from 31,620 units in February 2007; Kawasaki exported 20,096 units, up from 19,115 units; Suzuki shipped 49,853 units, up from 44,999 units; and Yamaha exported 31,984 units, down from 41,765 units.

The four companies shipped 45,178 units to the United States in February 2008, down 21% from shipments of 57,549 units in February 2007.
