JohnnyK's Powersports of Niles, Ohio, has become a sponsor for this year’s "Circle Track Showdown" snowmobile races to be held Jan. 7 and 21 at Sharon Speedway.
In the first year, the races packed grandstands to watch a field of more than 100 competitors, despite subzero temperatures. The second year is expected to get at least as much attention.
The following classes will be in action in both independent front suspension and leaf: 400cc and under, 401-500cc, 501-600cc, 601-700cc, 701-800cc, 801cc and higher, and mods and vintage sleds. Age groups per class are 12-14, 15-17, 18 and over, plus the senior vintage class of 55 and older.
Helmets are required for competitors; suits, gloves, chest protectors and tethers are highly recommended. Each class will run heats, last chance races (if necessary) and a feature. Drivers will be permitted a few warm-up laps. Winners will receive trophies only (no cash). Hay bales will be set up around the 3/8-mile track. Sleds and/or riders must be visibly numbered.
Pre-registration is $20 per class through Dec. 31 for the Jan. 7 event and through Jan. 14 for the Jan. 21 event. The fee increases to $30 per class on race day. Registration forms are available at www.sharonspeedway.com/drivers/registration.
JohnnyK's Powersports specializes in ATVs, snowmobiles, utility vehicles, watecraft, scooters, cargo trailers, and sport utility trailers in brands like Arctic Cat, Can-Am, Sea-Doo, Ski-Doo, E-Ton, Triton, and Kawaski.
In the event of no snow and unseasonably warm weather, make-up dates will be Jan. 14 and 28.
