Kawasaki adds Launch Control Mode to 2012 KX450F

Kawasaki has revised its KX450F for 2012. Headlining the improvements is an all-new Launch Control Mode, which changes DFI settings with the push of a button to maximize traction out of the starting gate. According to Kawasaki, this is accomplished without sacrificing any of the midrange grunt or straight-line speed.

Kawasaki also refined the bike’s aluminum perimeter and motor to create a more compact and mass-centralized chassis propelled by “more useable power than ever.”

KX450F riders can choose among four different handlebar positions, two footpeg positions, and two optional plug-in digital fuel-injection settings (plus virtually unlimited DFI mapping capabilities with the use of the Accessory Kawasaki Racing Software Kit). Riders can therefore adapt the bike to their riding ability, or to changing conditions on the track or trail.

The model is available in Lime Green and retails for $8,499.

Summary of KX450F features, according to Kawasaki:

  • Improved top-end power and a wider powerband
  • New four-way adjustable bar position
  • Footpegs adjustable to two different positions, accommodating taller riders
  • New frame features slimmer midsection
  • Upgraded transmission for easy, reliable shifting and greater durability
  • All-new Launch Control Mode increases the chance of nailing the holeshot
  • Switching pre-programmed ignition maps as easy as changing DFI wire coupler caps, no PC required
