Kawasaki recalls Ninjas, Versys models for faulty footpegs

Kawasaki Motors Corp. USA has just announces a recall of certain 2012 model year vehicles, including the Ninja and the Versys, which were manufactured from Sept. 13 to Oct. 25, 2011.

See the list below for the specific models involved in the recall. The potential number of vehicles affected is 793.

The company says that engine vibration, along with damage during the assembly process, can cause the circlips on the footpeg mounting pins to potentially break, and the footpeg to detach from the bike. This could increase the risk of a crash if the vehicle is in motion.

Kawasaki asks dealers to replace the passenger footpeg pin circlips free of charge. The recall will begin on or about March 12. For more information, call Kawasaki at 866-802-9381.
