LOGAN, Ohio – The pull of family was what made Mike Kelty move Top Dog Performance Cycles from Gilroy, Calif., to Hocking Hills, Ohio.
His son Andrew, 5, moved to the area and his heart made him follow. “It only took my son two times to ask me to move back here for me to make the decision,” Kelty told the Logan Daily News.
'One of my distributors in California told me this area [in Ohio] is a mecca for bikes."

Kelty said he plans to break ground in two weeks and have the new store open by November. It will be close to U.S. 33 and state Route 664, and next door to a BBQ restaurant that hosts bike nights every Tuesday during the summer.
“One of my distributors in California told me this area is a mecca for bikes,” Kelty said. “This area has one of the largest areas for bikers, and here they actually ride their bikes, unlike in California.”
Top Dog Performance Cycles will be housed in a 4,000 sq. ft. building where Kelty and his staff of four or five employees will do motorcycle maintenance, performance upgrades, Dyno tuning, warranty repairs, and customization, as well as selling parts and accessories.
“I’m excited to be relocating,” Kelty added. “It’s a great move for me so I can be with my son and I think my business will do well here. This area is filled with bikers. They are all over the place and everyone always needs tires and an oil change.”
Kelty is factory-certified and graduated from the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Ariz..
