INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Jon-Erik Burleson, president of KTM North America, will take the stage next week as a panelist for a special forum on OEM-Dealer Relations at the 2013 Dealer Expo.

The VIP panel discussion, presented by Dealernews, will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, in the Indiana Convention Center.

The one-hour “Super Session” will discuss the status of OEM-dealer relations in the post-recession environment, what OEMs need from their U.S. dealer network, and what dealers require from their manufacturers to be successful in today’s marketplace.

The panel discussion will be hosted by Eric Anderson. (Read Anderson's most recent "Confessions of a Customer column HERE.)

Baird Research, which conducts the quarterly Dealer Sentiment Index surveys with Dealernews, will also be a participant, as will Bill Cameron, owner of Skagit Powersports, a Top 100 Hall of Fame dealership based in Washington State. The final speaker lineup will be announced later this week, according to Mary Slepicka, content director for Dealernews.

Burleson recently was recognized by the American Motorcyclist Association as its 2012 Motorcyclist of the Year. (He is shown here with the legendary John Penton during the 2012 KTM annual dealer meeting. Press image courtesy KTM.)

"Jon-Erik's innovation and leadership have positioned his company to take full advantage of what could only be described as a challenging environment in the motorcycle industry -- an industry that is fighting back from its worst downturn in history," said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman at the time of the association’s announcement. "It is also important to recognize our honoree's passion for and commitment to motorcycling. Jon-Erik exemplifies the motorcycle lifestyle. He was raised in a motorcycle racing family and has been around motorcycling his whole life," Dingman added.

The timing of Burleson’s appearance at Dealer Expo is fortuitous, given KTM’s brand expansion plans in the United States and the recent news that BMW would be selling its Husqvarna brand to a company owned by KTM’s CEO in Europe.

The Friday panel discussion as well as other Dealernews Learning Experience sessions is open to registered attendees of the 2013 Dealer Expo. If you would like to attend this session but are not yet registered for the show, click HERE.
