CARLSBAD, Calif. – More than 175 motorcyclists plan to ride more than 2,800 miles in eight days, traveling from coast to coast May 3-10 in the 20th anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride.
Over the years the ride has visited 48 out of the 50 states, logging more than 10.7 million cumulative motorcycle miles. The ride has donated $15 million to Victory Junction, a year-round camp for kids ages six to 16 with chronic or life-threatening illnesses, and other charities that support chronically ill children.
The 2014 Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America is made possible by presenting sponsor Manheim, as well as Coca-Cola, Dodge, Pilot Flying J, Harley-Davidson Motor Co., Racing Electronics, FLUIDYNE Racing Products, WinCraft Racing, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, the Petty Family Foundation and Original Bike Spirits. Recently added sponsor The Beef Jerky Outlet will be providing riders with bags of jerky as a snack to fuel their ride.
The ride starts May 3 in Carlsbad, Calif., and ends May 10 in Daytona Beach, Fla. This is the first time the ride has traveled ocean to ocean, organizers said.
