KYMCO USA is prepared to market eight ATV models and two side-by-side vehicles in 2010.
Highlights include the introduction of the sport-ute Maxxer 375 IRS 4x4 (MSRP: $5,999); the addition of an independent rear suspension for the MXU 500 4x4 IRS ($6,299) utility model; hopped-up limited editions, the MXU 375 4x4 IRS LE ($5,999), MXU 500 4x4 IRS LE ($6,999) and UXV 500 4x4 LE ($9,499) side-by-side; and the addition of reverse to the Mongoose 90 ($2,299).
The Maxxer 375 IRS 4x4, available in blue, red and white, is powered by an air-cooled 366.9cc DOHC engine delivering 26hp. The 452-lb. quad is outfitted with an automatic transmission featuring H/L/N/R, push-button 2WD/4WD; independent dual A-arm suspension front and back offering 7 inches of travel; hydraulic dual discs in front with a single disc in back; and 12-inch alloy wheels helping achieve 10 inches of ground clearance.
The MXU 500 4x4 remains KYMCO's largest quad, but in 2010 gets an independent rear suspension (IRS) offering 7.5 inches of travel and improved ride quality. Powered by a liquid-cooled 499cc DOHC engine delivering 36hp and half-ton towing capacity, the 661-lb. unit features a H/L/N/R/P, push-button 2WD/4WD automatic transmission with differential lock; front and rear equipment racks; front brush guard; a digital back-lit dash; the same braking system as the Maxxer; and 12-inch Kenda Pathfinder tires that help it achieve 10.2 inches of ground clearance.
As for the limited edition models, the MXU 375 4x4 IRS LE and MXU 500 4x4 IRS LE come standard with a 2,500-lb. KYMCO winch; KYMCO 12-inch alloy wheels; and Kolpin/KYMCO rear contoured cargo box, gear grips and side-view mirror hand guards. The UXV 500 4x4 LE comes with a 3,000-lb. KYMCO winch, KYMCO 12-inch alloy wheels, Seizmik/KYMCO soft enclosure with full windshield, and Kolpin/KYMCO gear rail package and gas pack. All three LE models will be available only in black.
Other off-road vehicles in KYMCO USA's 2010 line include the standard MXU 375 4x4 IRS ($5,299), the MXU 300 ($3,799), MXU 150 ($2,799) and Mongoose 300 ($3,749), and the standard UXV 500 4x4 ($8,099) side-by-side. Vehicles not returning are the MXU 250, Mongoose 250, and the 50cc and 70cc youth quads.
KYMCO USA held the new vehicle launch Sept. 25 at the Land Rover Driver Training Course on the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C. The OEM has already started receiving shipments of the new units. Dealer deliveries are scheduled to begin in the next couple of weeks.
