KYMCO Recalls MXU 500 ATVs

KYMCO USA is recalling all 1,350 units of its 2006-2008 MXU 500 ATV due to suspension failure.

KYMCO says the pivot bolts holding the rear suspension onto the frame can become loose, causing the rear swing arm to detach from the chassis posing a risk of injury or death to the operator. The company has received six reports of incidents, including two reports of minor injuries.

Manufactured in Taiwan, the vehicles are distributed by KYMCO USA, Spartanburg, S.C. The units were sold by KYMCO dealers nationwide from November 2006 through December 2007 for between $6,000 to $6,500.

Registered owners were sent direct mail notification of this recall and asked to immediately stop using the ATVs and contact an authorized KYMCO dealer in their area to schedule a free repair.
