Laconia Bike Week organizers say they expect a smaller-than-usual turnout this year because of weather and high gas prices.
The 88th annual Bike Week runs June 11 to 19.
"I'm always hopeful for good weather and a good turnout," rally executive director Charlie St. Clair, told the Laconia Citizen, "and I'd like to see the price of gasoline come down to the where the people won't be as greatly impacted by it as they are now."
Police Chief Mike Moyer also believes conditions will limit attendance.
"We're not expecting a huge turnout, definitely not a banner year and we're scaling back some operation at The Weirs and we have some things that will save money but without compromising public safety." he says.
