Lesson in Recruiting

Euro Motorsports, Scottsdale, Ariz., has opened what owners call a "one-stop tuning center" for all makes and models of motorcycles. "Need an oil change for your Ducati or a complete Honda race bike built from the ground up? The performance team will ensure every detail is masterfully completed," says David Slepak, dealer principal. David and his brother, Joshua, also own BMW Motorcycles of Scottsdale.

The Slepaks have recruited two master techs for the new business, including:

  • Jason Pellengahr — "Jason started working with motorcycles in 1997 with Ducati in Europe," says Slepak. "This inspired him to return to the United States and attend MMI for official training, which in turn launched his career in the motorcycle industry. Immediately after graduation, he was recruited by Eraldo Ferracci to work at the legendary Fast by Ferracci dealership. Jason spent nine years working directly under the tutelage of Eraldo and the race team building race engines and installing performance upgrades for Ducati, MV Augusta and Moto Guzzi. He has created masterpiece project bikes that have been showcased in magazines such as the Nuovo Thunder Moto Guzzi and the MV Augusta FBF4 Eraldo Edition featured in Moto Euro magazine." Pellengahr is one of a handful of Desmosedici Certified Master Technicians in the world, according to Slepak.
  • Mark Ledesma, who has been racing and dyno-tuning Japanese and Euro bikes for more than 15 years. "Mark has also competed and won championships in various classes in both regional and national CCS, and has held multiple track lap records in Phoenix and Las Vegas. Mark also competed in AMA Pro Thunder and Superbike classes and captured multiple podium finishes, and several top 15 finishes," says Slepak.

The Performance Tuning & Dyno Center will feature a Dynojet 520i dynamometer, a performance dyno room, and specialized electronic tuning equipment and computer software.
