Two formerly home-based mechanics have done well enough to open their own custom shop, Phat Rides, in Loveland, Colo.
Randy Hocker and Mike Savage opened the full-service motorcycle repair and custom shop about a month ago. Hocker started the business in 2000 out of his home garage, later teaming with Savage at someone else’s shop. "We decided that we needed to do things our way," Hocker told the Coloradoan. Their downtown location is already bringing in new customers.
Hocker says his strength is fabrication, and Savage's is motor work. The business handles everything but paint.
