Ohio Bike Week 2012 kicks off today for 10 days of rides, concerts and events on the north Ohio shore.
Sponsoring dealership and Top 100 dealer Mad River Harley-Davidson, of Sandusky, promises plenty of “Ridin’, Rockin’, And Racin’.” Most events are free and open to non-riders as well. Besides the concerts, the event will feature motorcycle displays, ride-in bike shows, antique bike displays, motocross races, AHDRA (All Harley Drag Racing Association) drag races, biker games, winery tours, children’s activities, bike parade, demo rides, swap meet and the Jesse James Dupree Pancreatic Cancer Ride.
The dealership will host live music and entertainment starting today with the annual Funcoast Battle of the Bands and through the weekend with Seven Mary Three on Saturday and All Country Sunday, featuring Mustang Sally.
Billed as one of the fastest growing rallies in the United States, according to the Morning Journal, Ohio Bike Week offers more than a week of demos, exhibits, vendors, charity gambling, boat cruises and daily activities at Mad River Harley-Davidson and the Easyriders Saloon.
Ohio Bike Week began as the North Coast Thunder Rally & Ohio State HOG Rally in 1999 and 2000. But state rallies move around year to year, and Sandusky wanted to keep up the action. In 2006, North Coast Thunder Rally was re-branded as Ohio Bike Week, which has grown into the 10-day rally planned around the dates for the AHDRA Ohio Bike Week Nationals.
