Mike's Famous Planet Powersports in Pennsylvania sold

The owners of Mike's Famous Planet Powersports in Chadds Ford, Pa., have closed the store, with no plans to reopen it.

Cliff Murray, president of Cycle Max in Honey Brook, Pa., told the News Journal of Delaware he is acquiring the Mike's Famous franchises to add Honda, Polaris, Suzuki and Kymco to his store.

"There's more capacity to do business than there is business," he says, adding he hopes to pick up a lot of the Planet staff.

Planet Powersports owner Mike Schwartz told the newspaper the shop is finishing up service orders and honoring commitments made before the store closed Dec. 27. He will focus on his Mike’s Famous Harley-Davidson store in Groton, Conn.

Two Delaware Mike's Famous Harley-Davidson stores Schwartz sold about three years ago, in New Castle and Smyrna, will get new names to reflect the new ownership, Rommel Harley-Davidson, owned by Dave Rommel.
