Minnesota’s Department of Natural Resources is seeking comments on a plan for the newest state park.
The draft development plan is for the new Lake Vermilion State park, a 3,000-acre parcel of waterfront forest, rocky hills and wetlands bought from U.S. Steel in May. Among the suggestions are drive-in campsites for ATVs.
The DNR is calling the new venture a “pilot park” where new ideas and activities will be tried; more than any other state park.
“We’re finally putting some meat to that sort of vague comment that we want this to be a next-generation state park,” Erika Rivers, DNR planner, told the Grand Forks
