HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss.– Mississippi ATV riders have a new recreation option with the opening of Texas Flat Off Road, a 300-acre course open weekends in Hancock County.

"The closest one, they call it Red Creek and it's like 100 miles from here and this is right here on the Gulf Coast," owner Kevin Haas told WLOX. "I just think it's a good thing for the county, you know. Brings a lot of people down Texas Flat Road and a lot of people into the Kiln."

Opening day drew about 60 people from South Mississippi and Louisiana. "In the future, we're going to have a place for the dirt bikes and we're going to have a place for the trucks in the near future," he said. "I have equipment. I'm in the dirt business. Trails will change, so it's going to be different just about every time somebody comes. "
