Montana’s Snowmobile Advisory Committee, administered by Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov), is seeking a new member for a three-year term.

Applicants must have experience in snowmobiling and be familiar with snowmobiling in their surrounding area. The committee holds daylong meetings two to three times a year. The Snowmobile Advisory Committee advises the agency on the expenditure of about $1 million of Montana Snowmobile Program funds, discusses trails, and recommends solutions to snowmobiling issues. Committee members represent a variety of interests, including snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, off-highway vehicles, and dog sledding.

"We’re looking for a person with broad recreational trails experience and a specific interest in snowmobiling,” says Walt Timmerman, snowmobile program manager.

To apply, send a letter or e-mail including:
1) your name, address, telephone, and e-mail address if available;
2) a description of the trail activities you participate in and how often, keeping in mind that State Parks is seeking individuals with a snowmobile recreational trail background;
3) your involvement with trail projects and programs;
4) the names of trail organizations to which you belong,
5) other talents and experience you would bring to the committee; and
6) your philosophy and perspectives regarding winter recreational trails use.

Applications may be sent to: Montana State Parks, Attn: Walt Timmerman, 1420 East Sixth Avenue, P.O. Box 200701, Helena, MT 59620; or e-mailed to wtimmerman@mt.gov. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on April 20, 2012. For more information, call 406-444-3753; or email wtimmerman@mt.gov.
