Harrell’s Car Wash Systems –– the company that invented the country’s first automated touch-free motorcycle wash –– has signed an agreement with Washworld Inc., the manufacturer of vehicle wash systems in DePere, Wisc., to manufacture and distribute Harrell’s MOTO EXPRESS WASH™ brand automated motorcycle wash.
Harrell’s Car Wash Systems introduced a prototype of its MOTO EXPRESS WASH™ automated motorcycle wash at the Red Bull Indianapolis Moto GP in September 2008, and Harrell’s began test-marketing it to motorcycle riders, car wash owners and motorcycle dealerships thereafter.
“The results were overwhelmingly positive,” said Mark Harrell, owner of the Indianapolis company that’s been building and operating car wash systems for about 30 years. “We’re ready to take the next step in manufacturing the MOTO EXPRESS WASH™ automated motorcycle wash, and offering it to car washes and motorcycle dealers worldwide.”
Washworld –– a vehicle wash manufacturer with an international distributor network –– will manufacture the MOTO EXPRESS WASH™ automated motorcycle wash at its headquarters in Wisconsin and will debut the commercial product at the annual International Carwash Association show in Las Vegas in April. Under the licensing agreement, Washworld will be responsible for the manufacture, distribution, marketing and sales of the automated motorcycle wash.
“Washworld is uniquely qualified for this partnership,” said Dave Stock, a principal of Washworld and owner of Stock’s Harley-Davidson-Buell in Manitowoc , Wisconsin . “Our knowledge of both the motorcycle and carwash industries, combined with proven Washworld technology and our international distributor network, will provide a solid foundation on which to manufacture and market this very innovative product,” said Stock.
The company began promoting MOTO EXPRESS WASH™ automated motorcycle wash at the International Motorcycle Dealer Expo at the Indianapolis Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium Feb. 13-15. Those who attended, liked what they saw.
MOTO EXPRESS WASH™ automated motorcycle wash will be offered for sale at the Car Care World Expo 2009 in Las Vegas April 1-4 (www.carwash.org).
Most motorcycle owners spend hours washing their bikes by hand. Harrell, an Indianapolis entrepreneur, was talking with friend Paul Teutul Sr. of Orange County Choppers and the cable TV series American Chopper, about the chore of keeping bikes clean. They bantered about a carwash for motorcycles, which inspired Harrell. He went back to his shop on the west side of Indianapolis and began designing a prototype of what has become the country’s first automated, touch-free wash designed specifically for motorcycles.
The commercial product will be based on Harrell’s prototype and incorporate Washworld technology. From a distance the MOTO EXPRESS WASH™ automated motorcycle wash looks like it might be a typical automated car wash bay. The difference is that the motorcycle is secured by a computerized system that activates blocks at the kick stand and front tire, stabilizing the bike. An arm moves across and over the bike for pre-soak, wash and spot-free rinse. At the same time, the front and rear wheels are being rotated and cleaned, and then the bike is air-dried. The whole process takes less than five minutes.
Adding to the ease of operation for wash owners, Washworld’s exclusive Washview® and Washview Remote™ software will be part of the MOTO EXPRESS WASH™ system. The software allows the owner to access the wash from anywhere using a PC or laptop with the ability to turn on and off functions, view wash counts and wash events in real time and much more. An optional feature is the Washview Mobile™ which provides the same cutting-edge technologies as the Washview Remote with the additional ability to receive e-mail or text message alerts from anywhere in the world using Windows® based PDA or cell phone.
The MOTO EXPRESS WASH™ automated motorcycle wash also will include the Washworld pump station with direct feed solutions system which provides more control and a resource conservation system which saves utility and chemical costs.
“ Wash. Dry. Ride. It’s really that simple,” says Harrell. WASH. DRY. RIDE.SM also is a Harrell’s Car Wash Systems service mark for its automated motorcycle wash. Harrell’s Car Wash Systems has U.S. and foreign patent applications pending for its MOTO EXPRESS WASH™ automated motorcycle wash, which will be sold under the Harrell’s Car Wash Systems’ MOTO EXPRESS WASH™ trademark.
“Washworld is pleased to be able to offer this exciting new revenue producing product to the public,” said Pete Jensen, President of Washworld. “We anticipate extraordinary interest in this from motorcycle dealerships as well as carwash owners.” he said.
