BROOKLYN, N.Y.  – The owners of the new Jane Motorcycles custom shop hope people will come for the coffee and community, stay for the motorcycles, then ride off together.

The shop opened in November to sell coffee drinks and motorcycles and create a gathering point for riders.

“It’s a place where friends could meet up, drink coffee, go for a ride and talk about things we enjoy like music, clothing, art and books,” co-owner Adam Kallen told DNAinfoNY. “It’s all things motorcycles.”

Kallen opened the shop, adorned with motorcycle photos and branded riding gear, with business partner Alex Dimattio. Kallen moved to New York a couple of years ago from Los Angeles, where he ran a clothing company and worked in e-commerce. He and longtime rider Dimattio met through mutual friends.

“I was the guy who would go to motorcycle shops and be there all day long,” Dimattio said in a video posted on the store’s website.

Customized bikes at Jane can range from $9,000 to $20,000, with the bikes made at a garage in Long Island City. The company supports local commerce, getting its brews from neighborhood roaster Parlor Coffee. It also carries clothes created by the Williamsburg Garment Co.
