SANTA MONICA, Calif. - The Progressive International Motorcycle Shows has announced the dates for the 2013-14 national tour, with the schedule adding a stop in Phoenix and moving the New York show to right in the middle of the holiday season.
The IMS shows are produced by Advanstar, parent of Dealernews.
The national tour kicks off Oct. 25 in San Mateo, Calif., and concludes in February 2014 in Seattle. See full schedule at the end of this article.
The big New York show, held at the Javits Center, moves from its longtime run in January to smack-dab in the middle of the holiday season: Dec. 13-15. Already the largest show in the four-month tour, a December NYC event is projected to bring in even more attendees as shoppers seek holiday purchases.
The schedule also was re-routed this year so that the show could return to Phoenix to accommodate heightened consumer demand in that market.
Big buying audience. Research conducted for last season’s shows indicated that IMS attendees are 33 times more likely to purchase a new vehicle and 20 times more likely to purchase a used vehicle than non-attendees. Show-goers during the 2012-13 tour spent a combined $87 million on parts and accessories at the shows – up about 9 percent from the 2011-12 tour.
Average household income for IMS attendees last season was about $82,700, with roughly 40 percent of respondents indicating household incomes of $100,000 or higher, Advanstar reported. (continued)
