Berkeley Powersports in Moncks Corner, S.C., is under new management.
Sal Gatbonton took over the 7,000 sf dealership -- which sells Suzuki, Kawasaki and Hyosung bikes, ATVs and scooters -- March 1. He says his off-highway location lets him compete on price.
“That’s one of the advantages we have (versus) those on the highway,” he told the Post and Courier. “We have lower overhead costs. We have to be different. We have a good time. When somebody comes in here, it is supposed to be a personal environment.”
The operation has six employees an inventory of 100 vehicles, as well as service center and PG&A sales.
Gatbonton, a former GM auto dealer, hopes to expand the shop when the economy picks up.
