CLEVELAND, Ohio – The former manager of an OEM dealer systems division has launched a consultancy to help small to midsize businesses manage organizational performance, management coaching, and technology project management.
Keller Performance Group's founder and president, Doug Keller, said he has developed the "3-4" Action Planning management system to address changes that affect people, processes, and technology.
“Managing any business successfully all starts with hiring the right people,” Keller said. “One of the most common mistakes I’ve seen businesses make is to promote their best performers to the manager roles without considering whether they have the additional skills required. If you expect them to lead others, it is important to be sure they have the ability.”
Keller Performance Group recently partnered with PRADCO, an international psychological assessment firm, to offer the Retail Manager Index to powersports dealers. Typically used for department, assistant, store and district managers, the index features dimensions that are relevant to running a retail department or operation, such as decision-making, management and motivating factors. The index is helpful in determining whether a person is likely to succeed at the next level of responsibility, Keller said.
In addition to an online self-assessment with immediate results, more comprehensive assessments are also available, Keller noted. One option would include a consultant review of the assessment and a report summarizing ratings and detailed information on the “fit” for the job or promotion. An even more thorough option is available that would add an individual interview with the potential candidate.
“It’s all about helping you put the right people in the right roles, the first time,” Keller said.
Additional assessments are also available that focus on sales and customer service skills. There’s even an assessment for driver/operators for those dealers who want to ensure they hire staff focused on safety and using good judgment.
