CASPER, Wyo. – The Casper Area Chamber of Commerce and a group of volunteers are planning a rally this weekend in hopes of capturing some of the business from riders heading west to Sturgis.

The first Ghost Town Rally, set for Aug. 4 and 5 in downtown Casper, will take place from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in two large downtown parking lots. There will be live music from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. to noon, 12:30 to 2 p.m. and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The event includes souvenir and food vendors selling T-shirts, pins, bandanas and Ghost Town Rally patches; a dunk tank and face painting for kids, along with a Show ’n Shine motorcycle contest and a Ms. Ghost Town Rally Contest.

Instead of the typical poker run that motorcyclists enjoy as fundraisers, there will be “poker walks” through downtown businesses on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., Pam Jones, communications and special events manager for the Casper Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center, told the Rapid City Journal.
