LERNA, Ill. – Joe Stewart remembers taking his bikes to the Jim Walker Cycle Shop for parts and repairs when he was a kid. That made it an easy choice to open J & S Cycles in the same building.

Joe and Stacy Stewart opened J & S Cycles earlier this summer in the building where Jim Walker had run his cycle shop for more than 25 years before his death.

"I rarely have to give directions to the place. They know where it is at," Stewarttold the Journal Gazette and Times-Courier.

Stewart said he is an experienced motorcycle mechanic who most recently worked as head mechanic at the former Fuel Cycles shop in Charleston.

"We can do anything from a tire and oil change to a complete teardown of an engine," Stewart said. "The mechanic is the business owner, and that is a huge advantage for customers. I am the guy at the counter and the mechanic."

J & S Cycles is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday each week, and by appointment on Saturdays.
