JEFFERSON, N.J. – Mobile service and catering to military veterans are the opening strategies for new repair shop PBK Outdoors Marine and Powersports in Hopatcong.

Owners Paul and Laura Oostdyk opened the shop to maintain ATVs, boats and dirtbikes. They plan to offer full-service options for onsite repairs as the business grows.

Meanwhile, they offer a mobile repair service; clients can request onsite troubleshooting tips from Paul Oostdyk and he reportedly will make service calls anywhere within a half-hour radius of the shop. His experience came from the marine industry.

“I grew up at a marina,” he told Jefferson Patch. “I’ve been factory trained since 1976 [in all the major marine brands].”

The new shop includes a customer waiting area and a private bathroom in addition to the service and office areas.

PBK, whose co-owner Laura Oostdyk is a full-time legal secretary and military veteran, offers a discount for veterans. Instead of the $85 per hour standard service rate that PBK will charge, it will only be $68 for veterans (with proof of service through discharge papers).
