New Michigan leather shop caters to motorcyclists

Heading into prime motorcycle riding season is a great time to open a leather shop.

Dawn Trantham, owner of the Livingston Leather Shop in Michigan, says her business is booming in its first two months. She says she did more business than expected in her first month, then doubled it in her second.

She's carrying on a family tradition of making leather apparel, and she also does alterations and custom work.

"It's gone really well. I've gotten a lot of compliments about the selection the store has," Trantham, who lives Fowlerville, Mich., told Livingston Daily News. The shop leather jackets, bike helmets, patches, belts, buckles, hats, purses and wallets.

Jackets start at $100 and all of Trantham's leather products come with an unlimited warranty. She also offers full refunds and exchanges "as long as the item comes back new," she says.

She also offers 60-day layaway and 10 percent discounts to riding clubs.

For more information, see the shop's Facebook page.
