Nmotion Yamaha looks to sell building for survival

admin

The sour economy is pressing dealers to adjust and Mike Carney, owner of Nmotion Yamaha in Wichita, Kan., says he needs to downsize from a 16,000-square-foot facility.

Now the company is listing the building, a former Fox Collision site, at $1.6 million. Nmotion originally purchased the structure for $1.15 million.

The high-flying days of 2008, when the company moved to expand, seem like a distant memory these days. At the time, Carney told the Wichita Business Journal, he was trying to get a Suzuki franchise. But as the economy soured, so did the deal.

Nmotion sells Yamaha and Aprilia motorcycles. Sales in 2009 were down nearly $1 million from 2008, when the dealer posted gross sales of $2.8 million.

Carney hasn’t decided on his next move and says a lot depends on selling the building, but “There hasn’t been a whole lot of traffic yet.”
