NPA auctioneer wins Tennessee bid-calling championship

A National Powersports Auction auctioneer in Tennessee has won the state Auctioneer Bid Calling Championship.

Chattanooga auctioneer Steven Holt won the 2012 title at a Dec. 4 event held in Nashville. The competition grades auctioneers on chant, rhythm, presence and auction ability. For decades this event has brought bid-callers from every region of Tennessee to compete for the coveted title of top auctioneer, according to WTVC.

Holt is the corporate auctioneer for National Powersports Auctions and NPA head Auctioneer for Harley Davidson Motorcycles. This is Holt's 25th year in the auction industry. He and his wife Paige are the owners of Compass Auctions & Real Estate in Chattanooga, which provides professional auction services for fundraising and charitable events, estate, senior downsizing, farm and construction equipment, land auctions and professional online auction services. Holt is a featured auctioneer on the TV show "Mecum's Muscle Car Auction" on Discovery Channel's Velocity network.
