MADISON, Wis. – AGV this week unveiled the prototype (see image, right) of a new super-lightweight helmet that it plans to offer for $1,300 to $1,500 retail in the next year.
The company is unveiling its 2013 helmet lineup to retailers this weekend at the Parts Unlimited/Drag Specialties dealer showcase.
The all-carbon fiber helmet weighs in at 800 grams. The cross-section reduction on this prototype has been “amazing” in tests conducted by AGV, and the lid reportedly absorbs 46 percent more impact, AGV reps told Dealernews.
The helmet will have an “extremely limited” production run, and every unit will be numbered, they said.
