MADISON, Wis. – AGV launched its 2013 helmet lineup here this week at the Parts Unlimited National Vendor Presentation and dealer showcase, most notably showing the Horizon series that provides AGV dealers with a suite of helmets in the attractive $350-$399 price range.
The Horizon is a sport-touring men’s helmet in two styles featuring a number of designs (see image, right). It features an Integrated Ventilation System with channels formed directly in the outer fiberglass/carbon shell.
The Horizon has a GT2 clear visor in optical Class 1 nonscratch and anti-fog polycarbonate with 100 percent UV protection, and an ISV internal nonscratch and anti-fog polycarbonate visor. Its XQRS (Extra Quick Release System) enables the visor to be removed and replaced without tools in just a few seconds, AGV officials said. The Horizon series is available in sizes XS to XXL.
The GP-Tech series unveils the Marco Simoncelli tribute edition (see image, left) retailing for $749.95, with all profits going to the Simoncelli Foundation. Buyers also receive a commemorative T-shirt.
The GP-Tech lineup, which also includes Rossi replica and all-black versions, now carries new internal padding and “skin-friendly” fabrics, AGV noted. The crown and cheek pads can be combined in a number of different ways to ensure custom fit.
The GP-Techs feature the Integrated Ventilation System with wide channels hollowed directly in the shell – three front air vents and five rear extractors in all; a visor micro-opening system for antifog performance even in bad weather conditions; and fully removable and washable inside padding, including the neck roll.
The AX-8 dual-sport (see image, right) gets new colors, including a black/white and a black/white/red in the Tour line. It features a SSL (super super light) fiberglass, Kevlar and carbon outer shell in three sizes; an Integrated Ventilation System with numerous channels formed directly in the outer shell; Dry-Lex fabric; internal padding that’s completely removable and washable; and a nonscratch and antifog Dual visor. It’s available in sizes from XXS to XXXL and is priced at $449.95 retail.
Finally, the Blade line, which retails at about $130 and reportedly has been popular with scooter and Spyder enthusiasts, is getting new graphics for 2013.
AGV also revealed its latest project: a 800-gram all-carbon helmet that will be produced in limited edition. Click here for the story.
